In a recent turn of events, Pouria Amirshahi, a French Green party lawmaker, has publicly denounced the U.S. decision to deny him a visa, extending efforts to understand American political dynamics under the Trump administration.

Pouria Amirshahi, a member of the French National Assembly, expressed his disappointment over being denied entry into the United States, which he claims obstructs vital discussions concerning the state of democracy in America. Amirshahi had organized a trip intended to engage with progressive legislators, activists, and scholars throughout key cities including Washington D.C., New York, and Boston. The visit was intended to mark the inaugural journey for La Digue, a coalition of leftist and centrist lawmakers that Amirshahi recently formed to combat the rise of neo-fascism in liberal democracies.
