Trump Compensates E Jean Carroll Over $5M for Sexual Abuse Verdict

The former President of the United States has settled a civil lawsuit by handing E Jean Carroll a total payment of over five million dollars.

The claim centers on an incident that took place in the mid‑1990s inside a Manhattan department store, in which Carroll alleged that Trump forced her to undress and demanded sex. In 2023 a New York jury awarded Carroll damages for the alleged assault and for defamation following the President’s public denial of her allegations. Trump has now complied with the court’s order that requires the judgment to be paid.

Carroll’s attorneys announced that the settlement includes the original $5 million award plus interest that accumulated during the appeals process. The payment was placed in a court‑controlled account and has been released to her as stipulated by the judge’s ruling. Trump’s lawyers were brief, but a recent appeal was rejected by the verdict’s determination.

Although the case may have set a legal precedent, it also illustrates the continuing scrutiny former presidents face in civil litigation. The judgment does not preclude additional political ramifications, but it does remove the immediate financial liability from Trump.
