Twelve people have been killed by a Russian drone strike near a company shuttle bus in eastern Ukraine, a regional official has reported.
According to Oleksandr Ganzha, the regional military administration chief, preliminary information indicates that seven more individuals were injured in the attack that took place in the Pavlohrad district. He noted: We are investigating the details. An air alert is ongoing in the region.
Energy company DTEK stated that the shuttle was transporting workers from a local mine, labeling the incident a targeted attack. Initial reports from the company suggested that the death toll from the strike could be as high as fifteen.
This incident is part of a larger pattern of violence, as at least nine others sustained injuries in separate assaults earlier on Sunday. For instance, a maternity hospital in Zaporizhzhia was struck by a drone, resulting in injuries to six individuals, including two women undergoing medical procedures when the facility was hit.
Regional head Ivan Fedorov condemned the attack as further "proof of a war directed against life" and shared a poignant video that depicted the chaos and destruction within the hospital.
Additionally, reports have emerged that three other individuals perished in separate attacks across Kherson and Dnipro. The continuing aggression from Russia includes targeted operations against Ukraine's power grid, severely disrupting basic utilities amidst freezing winter conditions.
In a related development, US President Donald Trump asserted that Russian President Putin had agreed to a temporary cessation of attacks on major Ukrainian cities during this bitterly cold week, although the Kremlin later indicated this pause would last until Sunday.
