From Tragedy to Resting Home: The Post‑Crash Journey of Oliver Tree


In a somber event, the late US singer‑songwriter Oliver Tree was among six people who perished in a helicopter collision over Rio de Janeiro on 15 June 2026.


His body was flown back to his hometown of Santa Cruz, California, where his family and fans held a solemn ceremony. The family posted a tribute on Oliver’s official Instagram account: "He can finally rest."


The post also announced that his family will honour his final wish by establishing a charity in his name. The foundation will be called "Dr. Oliver Tree’s Extremely Epic Grant For Baby Geniuses", seeking to spread joy, love and art worldwide.


A brief reflection on the artist’s legacy follows: Born Oliver Tree Nickell in 1993, he first sparked global recognition in 2016 with a blend of quirky style and catchy tracks such as "Life Goes On", "Miss You" and "Alien Boy".


At the time of his death, Oliver was in the middle of a worldwide tour, having just performed in São Paulo on 6 June. His next engagements were set for Lisbon, Portugal (1 July) and later dates in Glasgow, Manchester and London in September.


With grief still heavy upon his loved ones, the family thanked the public for their continuous love, support and positivity during these extremely difficult times, concluding with a message of peace for Oliver.
