Staten Island Man Survives Lightning Strike, Shares "Horrific" Experience

On the morning of 27 August, Thomas Fahmy was walking to his dentist’s office in Staten Island when a bright white flash of lightning struck above him, causing him to collapse to the street. The sudden surge of electricity left him disoriented and convulsing, but he did not suffer any serious injuries thanks to quick help from a nearby resident who immediately called 911.

Fahmy, 45, told CBS News that the experience was unlike anything he had ever felt before. He recalls the thunder, the sharp pain as the bolt hit, and the frantic feeling of adrenaline. He was transported to a nearby hospital where medical staff examined him for possible burns or internal damage, though he emerged with only minor bruises and no lasting harm.
