Sinner assaults Wimbledon semi, halts Djokovic’s historic quest

Defending champion Jannik Sinner showed a spectacular display on Centre Court, carving out a 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 win over Novak Djokovic to stop the 39‑year‑old Serb’s bid for a 25th Grand Slam title. The Italian, who has amassed 99 Grand Slam victories, is one match away from becoming the 10th man in the Open era to retain Wimbledon.

Sinner refused to offer a break point until the middle of the third set, dismissing Djokovic’s sole advantage with an ace before sealing the match. His weighty serves and blistering returns left the Serb bewildered as Sinner struck 40 winners for only 15 unforced errors, and poured in 16 aces.

The match concluded in just 2 hours and 20 minutes, only six minutes longer than Sinner’s fastest win of the event. With his confidence soaring, the next challenge for Sinner will be the final against a Zverev who boasts a grand‑slams crown.
