Poison‑laced Satay: Man Accused of Murdering Mother‑in‑Law in Indonesia
A 40‑year‑old man in Central Java, Purwadi Wahyudi, has been detained after police allege he killed his mother‑in‑law with chicken satay laced with rat poison.
According to investigators, on 18 May he ordered the skewer dish, dipped the pieces in toxic chemicals, and arranged for the food to be delivered to the victim’s residence.
When the 57‑year‑old woman, identified only as Aminah, was found the next day covered in vomit, forensic experts later confirmed signs of poisoning in her organs.
Purwadi is suspected of deliberately framing his sister‑in‑law, who had discovered the body, and of using a delivery‑app profile that mimicked her name and photo.
The case is still pending formal charges; if convicted, Indonesian law could impose the death penalty or a prison term of no less than 20 years.
