Singer Marc Anthony has described the Beckham family rift as extremely unfortunate, but added that the way it has played out is hardly the truth.
The 57-year-old performed at Brooklyn and Nicola Peltz Beckham's wedding reception in 2022 and is a close friend of the wider family. However, Brooklyn recently shared that he felt uncomfortable and humiliated during his first dance, which was reportedly interrupted by Anthony asking him to dance with his mother instead.
Brooklyn accused his parents of trying to ruin my relationship with Peltz and reflected on his mother dancing in a way that left him feeling very awkward.
Speaking to the Hollywood Reporter, Anthony maintained, I have known them since before the kids were born. I'm godfather to Cruz. I'm really close to the family. But I have nothing to say about what happened there. He reiterated, It's extremely unfortunate how it's playing out - but [how it's playing out] is hardly the truth.
The drama unfolded publicly when Brooklyn shared a six-page statement on Instagram, detailing the tensions and stating he has no wish to reconcile with his family. He described the uncomfortable moment during his wedding where Anthony called him to the stage under the pretense of sharing a romantic dance with his bride, leaving guests stunned.
Despite the troubling dynamics, Anthony expressed his continued affection for the Beckham family, underscoring the weight of unverified narratives in public discussions about personal relationships.
