Queensland police have charged a 27-year-old man with 596 child abuse-related offences against 459 children, with charges spanning multiple countries. The investigation has identified 360 victims so far, highlighting the alarming issue of online child exploitation.

A 27-year-old man has been charged with 596 child abuse-related offences concerning 459 victims in Australia and 15 other countries, according to Queensland police. The accused was apprehended earlier this year and has since remained in custody, with investigations revealing a staggering number of over 23,000 videos and images of alleged abuse discovered on his electronic devices.

Detective Acting Chief Superintendent Denzil Clark indicated the complexity of the case, stating that the sheer volume of evidence required immense dedication from law enforcement to process. To date, police have successfully identified 360 victims, predominantly boys aged between seven and 15 years, with ongoing efforts to assist remaining victims.

More than 200 victims are from Australia, with the remainder primarily from English-speaking countries. The accused allegedly employed social media and gaming platforms to groom and target children over a span of several years, from 2018 to 2025. Using multiple online personas, the charged individual recorded interactions and manipulated children into sending explicit material, categorizing the content into organized folders.

Clark warned about the rising trend of children being groomed online, using popular applications for exploitative purposes. He emphasized the significant trauma this infliction causes to the young victims. Furthermore, while the investigation focuses on this individual, additional suspects are being sought in connection with these offenses.

The charges presented against him include serious offences such as producing child abuse material through various communication services and coercing individuals under the age of 16 into sexual activity. The man is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
