Israel's Defense Minister has stated that a buffer zone will be established in southern Lebanon following the ongoing conflict with Hezbollah. This area will extend to the Litani River, approximately 30km from the Israeli border, and will entail the demolition of houses in nearby villages.

Defense Minister Israel Katz disclosed these intentions during a video statement, indicating that Israeli troops would remain in the area to ensure security and prevent Hezbollah attacks. He emphasized that over 600,000 displaced residents would not be allowed to return until the safety of northern Israeli residents is guaranteed.

The turmoil began escalating earlier this month when Hezbollah retaliated against Israel's actions following the assassination of Iran's supreme leader. Since early March, fighting has led to significant casualties in Lebanon, with over 1,200 deaths reported, including numerous children. The Israel Defense Forces have also encountered fatalities among their troops due to ongoing skirmishes.

Lebanon's President has condemned these Israeli actions, labeling them as collective punishment against civilians and suggesting they are part of a broader push for territorial expansion by Israel. The situation has created widespread displacement and alarm among the Lebanese population, posing grave humanitarian risks.
