CARBONDALE, Kan. — In a heartbreaking event early Saturday morning, four law enforcement officers were shot while responding to a report of domestic violence in a rural area south of Topeka, Kansas.

The incident occurred around 10:30 a.m., as three Osage County sheriff’s deputies and one Kansas Highway Patrol trooper were engaged with the domestic disturbance.

According to Melissa Underwood, spokesperson for the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, the conditions of the officers remain uncertain and are being monitored closely.

In a tragic turn, a male suspect was pronounced dead due to gunshot wounds, officials have confirmed. Another male, also involved in the incident, suffered injuries and has been transported to a local hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition.

Details about the shooting indicate that law enforcement had been on the scene for several minutes before the gunfire erupted. Following the incident, a swift response from multiple law enforcement agencies was initiated to address the situation.
