Father Sentenced for Threatening School Teacher in French Village

In the quiet village of Le Fauga, just outside Toulouse, a father was given a six‑month prison sentence after he threatened to kill a female primary school teacher who had disciplined his son. The alarming incident, which unfolded on Friday, led to a fast‑track hearing in Toulouse that concluded on Thursday.

Escalation of threat. The man’s son, a disruptive student, was moved to another class for calm but continued to misbehave. The teacher, reportedly allowed to address the boy with the words "stop acting like a bully," was later confronted by the father near the school. The father allegedly waited for the teacher outside the school, stating he would cut off her head if she were male. He later apologized, but a judicial complaint led to his prosecution.

'No teacher should fear to carry out their job,' said Education Minister Edouard Geffray, calling the incident an attack on the entire institution. '
'The new law, introduced this summer, allows schools to transfer students where there is a significant risk to staff, and it is one of the first cases to trigger that decree.'

'The teacher in Le Fauga is now protected and on sick leave. The school’s colleagues were suspended for safety reasons, and her colleagues have not returned to work since Monday.'

'The boy and his younger sister may now be moved to another school outside the village,' added local mayor Jean-Marie Puig.
