Authorities in New Mexico have issued an arrest warrant for director and Emmy Award-winning actor Timothy Busfield, who faces charges of child sex abuse. An investigator with the Albuquerque Police Department has filed a criminal complaint alleging that Busfield inappropriately touched a child during the filming of the TV series 'The Cleaning Lady'.
The complaints detail multiple incidents: the child reported that Busfield first touched him inappropriately when he was just 7 years old, with a total of three to four instances noted, and up to six other incidents occurring at the age of 8.
The mother of the child reached out to Child Protective Services, stating that these instances of abuse occurred between November 2022 and spring 2024. According to the complaint, the child has since been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder and anxiety, experiencing recurring nightmares and fear related to Busfield.
The investigation into the allegations commenced in November 2024, following a report from a doctor at the University of New Mexico Hospital, where the child’s parents sought assistance upon recommendation from a law firm.
'The Cleaning Lady' aired for four seasons on Fox, ending in 2025. The show featured a Cambodian doctor and her experiences in the U.S. after witnessing a mob killing and entering the world of organized crime cleaning.
Following the allegations, Warner Bros. initiated their investigation but stated they could not find evidence to support the claims of abuse.
Timothy Busfield is famed for his roles in 'The West Wing', 'Field of Dreams', and as an Emmy-winning actor from 'Thirtysomething'. He is married to fellow actor Melissa Gilbert, though there has been no immediate public comment from her regarding these serious allegations.
