Congressman Eric Swalwell Faces Investigation Over Sexual Misconduct Allegations

The Manhattan District Attorney's Office has initiated an investigation into sexual misconduct allegations against Congressman Eric Swalwell. Four women have come forth with accusations ranging from sexual harassment to rape, including one incident cited to have occurred in New York.
In response to the allegations, Swalwell, who aspires to be California's next governor, has outright denied the claims, pledging to defend himself with facts. The prosecutor's office has urged survivors and anyone with pertinent information to reach out to their Special Victims Division to report.
Swalwell, serving since 2012 and representing a district near San Francisco, has not responded directly to media inquiries as of the time of this report.
The first public allegation surfaced in the San Francisco Chronicle, where a former staff member accused Swalwell of making inappropriate advances shortly after being hired, including unsolicited sexual comments and two instances of assault.
These serious allegations have prompted calls for him to withdraw from the gubernatorial race, casting a shadow over his campaign and raising concerns regarding the implications for the upcoming Democratic primaries.
