In her recently released self-published memoir, "This Is Not Real Life," former Canadian political influencer Lauren Southern has brought forward allegations against Andrew Tate, claiming he assaulted her during a trip to Bucharest in February 2018. At the time, Southern was 22 and gaining notoriety for her anti-feminist and anti-immigrant stance, while Tate was laying the foundations for his online persona centered around hyper-masculinity.
Southern's memoir alleges that during a night in a hotel room, Tate, who is a British American kickboxer, assaulted and strangled her while she was intoxicated, a claim she did not expand upon further. Nevertheless, she has provided a hospital report from Toronto dated February 28, 2018, which notes an examination where she alleged to have been assaulted by a 30-year-old man in Romania. The hospital stated that they couldn’t verify the report due to patient privacy regulations, and while the man’s identity was not disclosed, Southern referred to him as someone she believed to be a potential business partner.
In spite of the evidence she provided, Tate’s lawyer strongly denied the allegations, stating that Southern "is lying through her teeth." Two individuals who accompanied Southern on the trip corroborated her account, confirming that she had communicated having been assaulted by Tate the following morning. As the public continues to navigate these troubling claims, the discourse surrounding Tate, already compounded by serious allegations of rape and human trafficking, is once again at the forefront.
