A late-night scare in Kansas unfolds as a babysitter encounters a man hiding under a child's bed.
On Monday night, in Great Bend, Kansas, deputies responded to a call around 10:30 PM local time after the babysitter, attempting to allay the child's fears, stumbled upon the intruder. The Barton County Sheriff's Office reported that while she was trying to prove there was nothing under the bed, she found herself face to face with a 27-year-old man, leading to an unexpected altercation. In the midst of the scuffle, one child was accidentally knocked over.
The suspect, who had previously resided at the home, was under a protective order prohibiting him from the property. Following a brief foot chase, authorities apprehended him the next morning on the same block. He now faces a series of serious charges including aggravated kidnapping, aggravated burglary, aggravated battery, child endangerment, obstruction of justice, and violation of the protective order. He is currently being held in county jail with a bond set at $500,000.
