Tragedy Strikes as Small Plane Collides with Building in California

A small aircraft collision in California has left two dead and at least 18 others injured, igniting concern in the community.

 

In a catastrophic incident on Thursday afternoon, a single-engine Van's RV-10 aircraft crashed into a commercial building in Fullerton, Southern California, leading to the deaths of two individuals. Emergency responders confirmed that 18 others were injured, with ten victims requiring hospitalization while eight others received treatment on site. The Federal Aviation Administration reported the crash occurred around 14:15 PST (20:15 GMT). Although further investigation is ongoing, authorities have not disclosed the circumstances leading to the crash, including whether the deceased were occupants of the plane or employees of the struck facility.

Local police are currently evacuating nearby structures and have urged residents to avoid the area surrounding the disaster site. Congressman Lou Correa, serving Orange County—approximately 25 miles south of Los Angeles—noted that the impacted building is a furniture manufacturing company. According to Correa, many of the injured were factory workers.

Aerial imagery captured after the incident revealed remnants of the aircraft inside the building, and firefighters quickly tackled a fire that erupted due to the crash. Eyewitness reports showcased a frightening scene, with one local resident, Mark Anderson, recalling the explosive sound and subsequent chaos as people rushed to understand the scale of the tragedy.

Located close to the Fullerton Municipal Airport and just 6 miles from Disneyland, the site previously experienced another aviation mishap two months ago when a separate aircraft crashed into a tree nearby, fortunately resulting in no significant injuries. As investigations proceed, the local community continues to grapple with the aftermath of this distressing event.
