Lawsuit Filed Against Liam Payne’s Father for Defamation by Close Friend

In a shocking twist following the death of Liam Payne, a defamation lawsuit has emerged against his father, Geoff Payne, filed by Roger Nores, a close friend of the late singer. The legal battle centers on statements made by Geoff regarding the circumstances of Liam’s demise, which occurred in Buenos Aires at the age of 31, attributed to “multiple trauma” and “internal and external haemorrhage” after a fall from a hotel balcony.

Nores, who faces manslaughter charges related to the incident, asserts that Geoff's comments to Argentine authorities were “false” and misleading, claiming they lacked personal knowledge and misrepresented his relationship with Liam. He argues that the profound implications of these statements have caused significant damage to his reputation.

The lawsuit specifies that while these declarations suggested Nores had a duty of care to Liam, that assertion is disputed; he maintains that Liam was an independent adult who made his own choices. Moreover, the lawsuit states that any financial proceeds will be donated to Bear, Liam's son with singer Cheryl.

Celebrities and bandmates, including Harry Styles and Cheryl, gathered to mourn Payne at his funeral in November. Meanwhile, the UK inquest into his death is set to continue with a review on November 6.
