Extradition Denied for Mother Accused of Filicide
A judge in the UK has dismissed the extradition challenge of Kimberlee Singler, a mother accused of murdering her two children in Colorado.
A judge at Westminster Magistrates' Court has turned down the extradition challenge of Kimberlee Singler, a US mother implicated in the tragic deaths of her two children in Colorado. Detained in London on December 30, 2023, Singler, 36, is accused of murdering her nine-year-old daughter Elianna and seven-year-old son Aden. Their bodies were discovered on December 19, 2023, leading authorities to believe that Singler had fled the country shortly after the incident.
During the hearing, District Judge John Zani ruled that the case should advance to the home secretary for a decision on whether Singler should be extradited back to the US. The courtroom was informed that the allegations led to a series of intense custody battles with her ex-husband, Kevin Wentz, framing the context of the alleged crimes.
Prosecutor Joel Smith recounted the grim discovery made by Colorado Springs police who responded to a 911 call about a potential burglary, only to find the children deceased alongside a blood-stained handgun in the home. Forensic evidence, including DNA tests on the weapon, reportedly linked Singler to the crime scene, amidst claims that she attempted to deflect blame onto her husband—who had a GPS-tracked alibi far from the incident. Meanwhile, a third child, who suffered critical injuries during the incident, was found alive and taken for medical treatment.
