Mickey Rourke Exits Celebrity Big Brother Following Controversial Remarks
Controversy leads to early exit for Hollywood star from reality show.
Hollywood actor Mickey Rourke has exited the Celebrity Big Brother house following what ITV described as “unacceptable behaviour” and “further use of inappropriate language.” The 72-year-old star faced backlash for threatening comments made towards fellow contestant Chris Hughes during a tense moment in the house.
This incident comes only days after Rourke, famous for his role in The Wrestler, received a formal warning for previously directed unacceptable language towards JoJo Siwa. Siwa, 21, accused him of making homophobic remarks by stating he intended to "vote the lesbian out real quick," among other derogatory comments about her sexuality.
In an emotional moment, Hughes, a 32-year-old Love Island star, supported Siwa after Rourke's comments, highlighting the tension in the house as it unfolded on screen. Following discussions with Big Brother, Rourke's departure was announced shortly after the incidents.
On the heels of his warning, Rourke had engaged in a troubling conversation with Siwa, questioning her sexual preferences. After Siwa expressed her happiness in a same-sex relationship, Rourke made a remark suggesting she wouldn’t remain gay if he stayed longer than four days, which Siwa firmly rebutted.
Rourke was later called to the diary room where he was told that his language was offensive. Attempting to clarify, he told producers, “I apologize. I don’t have dishonorable intentions,” emphasizing he was merely trying to joke around.
Upon returning to the main house, he offered Siwa an apology, acknowledging her discomfort. She accepted his apology, but the situation had escalated beyond reconciliation. The actor entered the show on Monday alongside Siwa, Hughes, and several other celebrity contestants, marking what has become an unfortunate chapter of reality television drama.
