**Daughter of Convicted Predator Declares 'He Should Die in Prison'**

**Caroline Darian speaks out about her father's heinous acts and her battle against chemical submission.**

**In a striking interview, Caroline Darian shares her painful journey of discovery and healing after learning of her father's sexual abuses, revealing the impact it has had on her life and her fight for awareness on a rarely discussed issue.**

Caroline Darian's life was turned upside down on a bleak November evening in 2020 when she received a devastating call from her mother, Gisèle Pelicot. "She told me that she had uncovered a dark secret—that my father, Dominique, had been drugging her for nearly a decade to facilitate the sexual assault by others," Darian recounted in an exclusive interview with BBC Radio 4's Emma Barnett. This life-altering revelation marked an end to her normalcy and thrust her into a nightmare surrounding her father's actions.

Dominique Pelicot, who has now been sentenced to 20 years in prison after a historic trial, was found to have orchestrated a scheme where he brought over fifty men to violate his wife while she was unconscious. Law enforcement initially captured him after he was caught upskirting in a grocery store, which led to investigators uncovering his horrifying collection of videos on his digital devices.

For Darian, the pain deepened as she faced the reality that her father might also have targeted her during her childhood. She recalls being shown disturbing evidence of her own unconscious state captured in photographs, which she struggled to reconcile with her identity. "The officer pointed out a mark that only I had," she said, revealing her disorienting experience.

Darian has emerged as a fierce advocate against the issue of chemical submission, a form of rape that often goes overlooked due to victims’ lack of recollection. She emphasizes the importance of listening to survivors, highlighting the gap in support for those who suffer from this kind of violence. Soon after her father's crimes became public, Darian penned a book titled "I'll Never Call Him Dad Again," which details her family's trauma and shines a light on this harrowing topic.

In the wake of her father's conviction, the Pelicot family has been reshaping their lives. Now, Darian focuses on raising awareness about sexual abuse and the insidiousness of drug-facilitated assaults, while her mother strives for recovery. "Together, we’ve tackled this horror with dignity and strength," she stated, emphasizing their shared resolve.

Reflecting on her relationship with her father, Darian said, "I cannot think of him as the dad I once knew; I can only see him as the predator he truly is." As she continues her mission to educate about the dangers of chemical submission, she draws strength from her husband, her brothers, and her young son. "The events of that night transformed me," she says, now committed to a forward-looking approach to her life and advocacy.
