Gisèle Pelicot: Victim or the Tip of a Larger Iceberg?

In a chilling turn of events, the case against Dominique Pelicot, recently sentenced to two decades in prison for the drugging and subsequent assault of his wife Gisèle, is expanding. His crimes unveiled to the public in December captivated France, transforming Gisèle into a prominent figure within the feminist movement. Yet, authorities are now probing deeper, hinting that these acts may represent a concerning trend rather than an isolated incident.

Antoine Camus, one of Gisèle’s legal representatives, articulated her grave fears, indicating that she believes she might only represent the surface of a much darker reality. Following his incarceration, police unearthed striking DNA evidence linking Pelicot to an attempted rape of a 19-year-old girl in the Paris area dating back to 1999. Faced with the evidence during their investigations, Pelicot openly confessed, stating, “It is me.”

Moreover, he is presently under investigation for the potential rape and murder of another young woman, aged 23, back in 1991. While Pelicot vehemently denies any charges related to the homicide, the merging of these two cases by prosecutors—given their alarming similarities—could unveil a possible serial predator.
