**Macron Proposes Temporary Truce for Ukraine: Will it Foster Peace?**

As Europe contemplates a new approach to negotiating peace, Macron's proposed ceasefire raises questions about its feasibility and impact on the conflict.

In a recent summit in London, French President Emmanuel Macron articulated a bold idea to instigate peace negotiations in Ukraine through a proposed one-month truce. The offer aims to create a ceasefire "in the air, at sea, and on energy infrastructure," while leaving ground fighting intact, owing to the challenge of verification along the frontline. In an interview with Le Figaro newspaper, the president asserted, “It would be very difficult to verify a truce along the front was being respected.”
