Emergency services mobilized as wreckage of Angara airlines An-24 located in Amur region
Rescue teams in Russia have located the remains of an Angara airlines An-24 aircraft that disappeared from radar while nearing its destination in the Amur region of the far east. The plane, which took off from Blagoveshchensk and was carrying 43 passengers—including five children—and six crew members, went missing approximately 16 kilometers (10 miles) from Tynda airport.
Regional governor Vasily Orlov reported that all necessary resources had been mobilized for the search operation and expressed hope for a successful rescue mission. Shortly after the crash, a Russian civil aviation helicopter confirmed spotting smoking wreckage on a hillside. Emergency services are currently making their way to the crash site to begin recovery efforts. The aircraft was on its final leg, linking Khabarovsk to Tynda when it encountered difficulties.
