US singer Chris Brown has been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent, the Metropolitan Police announced. This charge is linked to an alleged altercation that reportedly happened at a nightclub in central London on February 19, 2023. Brown, 36, was taken into custody early Thursday at a hotel in Manchester and is now awaiting his appearance at Manchester Magistrates' Court scheduled for Friday. Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor for CPS London North, Adele Kelly, confirmed, "We have authorized the Metropolitan Police to charge Chris Brown with one count of grievous bodily harm, contrary to section 18 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861." She further noted, "Criminal proceedings against this defendant are active," and emphasized his right to a fair trial. Brown is currently on tour, with performances planned throughout the UK in June and July.
