In brief
On November 3, 2026, ADNOC Gas plc announced a five‑year LNG supply agreement with TotalEnergies for up to 1.6 million tonnes, with first deliveries slated for 2026. The deal underscores ADNOC Gas’s growing global presence and TotalEnergies’ expansion of its LNG portfolio.
On Tuesday, November 3, 2026, Abu Dhabi‑based ADNOC Gas plc announced it had entered a five‑year liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply agreement with TotalEnergies, under which it will deliver up to 1.6 million tonnes of LNG, with deliveries expected to begin in 2026.
Fatema Al Nuaimi, Chief Executive Officer of ADNOC Gas, said,
Global demand for LNG continues to grow, and ADNOC Gas is well positioned to capture that opportunity. This agreement reflects the strength of our LNG business, the competitiveness of our supply offering and our ability to secure long‑term partnerships that support growth, enhance resilience and create lasting value for shareholders.
Al Nuaimi highlighted that the deal builds on the long‑standing partnership between ADNOC Gas and TotalEnergies and stresses the operator’s track record of reliable supply and delivery.
ADNOC Gas is using the transaction to demonstrate the capabilities of its newly launched global LNG marketing and trading platform. That platform integrates the marketing activities of ADNOC Gas and XRG with the trading expertise of ADNOC Trading, creating a single commercial operating unit that can offer a broader and more diversified LNG portfolio to customers worldwide.
ADNOC has earmarked the platform for a target of 47 million tonnes per annum of marketable LNG beyond 2030, positioning it among the world’s leading LNG marketing and trading organisations and reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s status as a global energy hub.
Stéphane Michel, President Gas, Renewables & Power at TotalEnergies, said,
The signing of this agreement with ADNOC Gas marks another important milestone in our long‑standing partnership and highlights our commitment to deepening our cooperation for the long term. Thanks to its perfect location between Europe and Asia, this new supply will enable TotalEnergies to confirm its position as one of the main LNG portfolio suppliers.
Michel noted that the agreement comes after TotalEnergies’ recent conclusion of its partnership with Abu Dhabi’s gas operator, positioning the new contract as a strategic step toward expanding the company’s LNG portfolio. The deal also supports ADNOC Gas’s strategic growth ambitions amid the expected integration of Ruwais LNG, which is anticipated to boost production capacity.
The agreement is framed as a long‑term growth lever for ADNOC Gas, which continues to broaden its LNG market presence in the face of rising global demand. It also follows TotalEnergies’ announced final investment decision for the development of the Umm Shaif Gas Cap, giving the totality of the producer a stronger footing as the block is brought online.
It remains unclear how the 1.6‑million‑tonne volume will be allocated over the five‑year term, the precise schedule of subsequent deliveries after the first shipments in 2026, and the extent to which the supply will be integrated with the future capacity from Ruwais. ADNOC Gas has stated that the first deliveries are expected in 2026, but detailed annual volumes and delivery schedules were not disclosed, leaving questions about how total supply will be distributed across the period.
Similarly, TotalEnergies has not specified whether the contract includes clauses for price adjustments, seasonal variations, or other commercial terms that could influence the long‑term nature of the partnership. The agreement’s public representation emphasizes reliability and partnership depth, but the particulars of logistics, pricing, and delivery frequency remain topics of further clarification.
