In brief

At just 20, law student Isidora Uribe Silva leverages her experiences with disability to advocate for marginalized communities and champion gender equality through innovative technology.

Isidora Uribe Silva, a 20-year-old law student from Chile, is making waves as an advocate for inclusion and equality, driven by her personal experiences with discrimination. At the age of 12, she faced bullying and the grim reality of inadequate support from her school due to her cerebral palsy. She was compelled to leave school for seven months until she found a welcoming environment at Institución Teresiana in Santiago, teaching her the harsh realities of systemic exclusion faced by many marginalized communities around the world.Recognizing the lack of resources for individuals with disabilities, Ms. Uribe Silva developed an app called Encuentra Tu Lugar (Find Your Place) at just 13, aimed specifically at helping disabled individuals locate accessible parking in Chile. This initial venture paved the way for the establishment of her namesake foundation, extending her ambitions to global advocacy.Currently, Ms. Uribe Silva is actively involved in the Generation Equality Adolescent Committee of U.N. Women and is a participant in the U.N. Women Leaders Network, an initiative designed to promote gender parity in decision-making roles and leadership positions. Through her work, she is not only transforming her personal struggles into a platform for change but also inspiring others to advocate for inclusive policies for women and disabled individuals worldwide.
