Divine Lunga escaped unharmed

Zimbabwean footballer Divine Lunga survived a gun attack in Johannesburg, police said.

Playing for Zimbabwe's national team and South African club Mamelodi Sundowns, the 31‑year‑old was in his car in Hillbrow when an unknown gunman fired shots.

Police claimed the attack was an attempt at murder, but no arrests were made yet.

Reports say Lunga was on his way to church with his younger brother; the suspect may have mistaken him for an undercover officer.

South Africa's high crime and murder rates underscore the danger that athletes face on the streets.
