Authorities have yet to identify a clear motive for the violence that unfolded early Monday. One of the victims, Lauren Bullis, an auditor for the Department of Homeland Security, was tragically shot while walking her dog near the suspect’s home.

Now facing serious charges, including two counts of malice murder and illegal firearm possession, Abel's troubling history has come to light. Originally from the UK, he became a U.S. citizen in 2022 while serving in the Navy.

In the days leading up to the attacks, roommates described a tense living situation, citing frequent arguments over the home’s temperature. One roommate conveyed her fear of Abel, alleging inappropriate actions after a failed romantic advancement, yet complaints to management went unresolved.

After a particularly intense confrontation late on Sunday night, Abel left the house with a large duffel bag, sparking concerns for his roommates’ safety.

A little after midnight on Monday, less than five miles from his residence, Prianna Weathers, a 31-year-old woman, was fatally shot outside a fast food restaurant. Just hours later, a homeless man was shot multiple times near a grocery store and is currently in critical condition.

By morning, Bullis was found severely injured a short distance from Abel's home, prompting law enforcement to connect him to all three attacks. While investigators are still determining if any victims were directly targeted, there are indications that at least one was chosen at random.
