WASHINGTON (Flux Daily) — The Trump administration has rolled out a new initiative targeting foreigners planning to travel to the United States for the World Cup next year, known as the 'FIFA Pass.' This program aims to expedite visa interviews for those who have purchased tickets through FIFA.
The 'FIFA Pass' allows ticket holders to receive prioritized visa appointment scheduling at U.S. consulates worldwide. President Trump highlighted the program, stating that he 'strongly encourages' potential World Cup travelers to apply for their visas immediately.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that over 400 additional consular officers have been assigned globally to manage visa demands, with expectations that 80% of applicants will secure an appointment within 60 days.
Ticket holders accessing the 'FIFA portal' will experience a streamlined application process. As Rubio noted, 'We will conduct the same rigorous vetting as all other applicants, but we are elevating their position in the queue.' This effort is intended to accommodate the anticipated influx of international travelers amid the World Cup.
Under this new initiative, officials will maintain the careful vetting process while moving FIFA ticket holders to the front of the line. Trump emphasized global confidence in the U.S., bolstered by the substantial number of tickets already sold.
As the Trump administration aims for a successful event with games hosted in Canada, Mexico, and the U.S., the President has indicated that safety remains a paramount concern. He mentioned that if security risks arise, he would consider relocating games anticipated to be held in urban environments like Seattle.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino remarked on America as a welcoming nation and acknowledged the success of this program in fostering international goodwill during the tournament. The 'FIFA Pass' reflects a commitment to encouraging tourism while also safeguarding national interests.
