Twin brothers marry twin sisters in joyous joint wedding in Ibadan
The wedding, held at a church in the south‑west Nigerian city of Ibadan, was a rare event as twin brothers Taiwo and Kehinde Oguntoye joined with twin sisters Taiwo and Kehinde Adediran. Guests were greeted by vibrant celebrations that reflected the Yoruba tradition where twins are seen as blessings.

The couples, who are both fraternal and identical twins respectively, coordinated matching traditional attire that symbolised unity. Taiwo expressed how the marriage felt “arranged by God,” while Kehinde shared his hope to have twins in future children. They reflect a deeply rooted cultural reverence for twins, a phenomenon well documented in Yoruba society.

The two sets of twins grew up in close proximity and studied together at the University of Ibadan. After a decade apart, they reunited through mutual friends, leading to the day they celebrated marriage together. Their families welcomed them warmly, with guests noting the resemblance between the brides and the silver lining of twin tradition.

Despite living apart, the couples plan to support each other’s paths, sharing common values and a mutual ambition to influence twin culture across Nigeria. Their wedding is a testament to the enduring appeal of twin pairing in Yoruba weddings and a rare joy for the community.
