Trump Earns Over $1bn From Crypto in First Year After Inauguration

In a 927‑page financial declaration for 2025, President Donald Trump disclosed that he earned more than £750 million ($1 billion) from cryptocurrency‑related outlets during his first year back in office.
Key contributors to that figure were: a 735‑million‑pound royalty stream from a Trump‑branded meme coin, launched just days before his inauguration, and over 500 million pounds in income from World Liberty Financial—an investment venture created by his sons together with the children of special envoy Steve Witkoff.
That tally eclipses the approximately 600 million pounds reported for 2024 and stands above the earnings he earned from his well‑known real‑estate portfolio, such as Mar‑a‑Lago and his golf clubs.
The White House reiterated that the President’s business holdings are held in a trust overseen by his sons and that no conflict of interest exists. White House deputy press secretary Anna Kelly emphasised that Trump has "pushed the United States to be the cryptographic capital of the world" and that all actions were in the best interests of the American people.
The disclosure also showcased other revenue streams: about 77 million dollars from Mar‑a‑Lago, 122 million from the Doral golf club, over 30 million each from golf clubs in Bedminster, Jupiter and Turnberry, as well as royalties from Trump‑branded merchandise, including watches, Bibles, trainers, fragrances and guitars.
First Lady Melania Trump appeared in the filing, listing 10.7 million dollars earned from a licensing agreement tied to a documentary about her and an additional 6 million from the sale of NFTs.
The President’s briefing also mentioned several settlements: 16 million each from a lawsuit against ABC and CBS, 24.5 million from Meta, 22 million from YouTube and 8 million from X. The White House said most of these funds are earmarked for the future presidential library and non‑profit preservation of Washington‑DC park sites.
While critics note that Trump’s crypto fortunes surpass those from his real estate empire, the administration maintains that the trust structure and limited direct involvement mitigate any alleged conflicts.
