ATLANTA (AP) — An Atlanta man has been charged in a series of violent attacks that resulted in the deaths of two women, one of whom was a federal employee with the Department of Homeland Security. The perpetrator, Olaolukitan Adon Abel, was reportedly granted U.S. citizenship in 2022, leading to concerns from Homeland Secretary Markwayne Mullin.
One of the victims, Lauren Bullis, was shot while walking her dog early on Monday morning, causing an outpouring of grief and scrutiny of the immigration process that allowed the suspect to gain citizenship. Authorities are investigating the possibility that at least one of the attacks was random, as a homeless man was also shot nearby.
