Tiger Shroff escapes Mumbai shooting, remains unhurt
Bollywood star Tiger Shroff survived a gun attack in Mumbai and emerged uninjured, Indian police say, as violence against public figures mounts in the country.
The 36‑year‑old was shot at on Sunday evening while in a car that was leaving a football club in the suburb of Juhu. Multiple news outlets released a video showing at least two gunmen firing several close‑range shots at the front passenger seat of the moving vehicle.
Police report two people were injured in the shooting, including the actor’s driver. Both victims were taken to a nearby hospital, while Shroff himself was unharmed.
Deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde visited the actor after the attack, describing the experience as "shaken" for Shroff and his mother. In a statement, Shinde pledged that attempts to intimidate public figures would not be tolerated, vowing to end “hooliganism.”
India has seen a rise in targeted violence against celebrities and politicians in recent years. In 2024, gunmen attacked Salman Khan’s home, and influential politician Baba Siddique was killed in Mumbai.
Shroff rose to prominence with his debut film "Heropanti" in 2014 and has since starred in several high‑profile movies. An avid football fan, he also plays for professional club Mumbay FC.
“The lives of public figures are under threat, and we must protect them,” the police said, urging communities to remain vigilant.
