Mayor Khymer Adan Olaso reported that the suspect first fired at a teacher seated at a table but missed. He then moved to another classroom and shot a student who later died. After the act the assailant took his own life, and police confirmed that no other shooters were present.

This incident comes two months after a high‑school shooting in Tacloban City that killed three students and wounded twenty.
