Donald Trump’s push to rename AI may be behind an "unprecedented" rise in Slovenian website names, according to its official national registry.

In a speech to the United Nations on 11 September, Trump urged that artificial intelligence be called "Super Intelligence" – the same initials used for Slovene websites.

Register.si spokeswoman Klara Herman reported that 44,000 .si domains were registered in September, a jump of more than 2,100 % from the under 2,000 sold in August. She described this spike as “unprecedented” for the past 12 months.

Herman noted that on 30 September alone, 11,000 new registrations were recorded, raising questions about whether the trend is a speculative domain‑investment strategy rather than a direct result of the president’s remarks.

The executive order signed by Trump instructs U.S. government departments to replace the term AI with SI (Super Intelligence) in all official documents and websites. The change is expected to ripple through corporate and public‑sector communications.

While the surge may be partly driven by traders eyeing future resale value, experts stress that registering domains is a legitimate investment practice, citing the 1997 purchase and sale of men.com as an example.
