TUCSON, Ariz. — Investigators are urgently appealing to the public for home surveillance camera footage related to the case of Nancy Guthrie, who has been missing since February 1. This plea comes as authorities face a flood of tips in their attempt to solve the case surrounding the mother of NBC’s Savannah Guthrie.
On Thursday, the situation appeared uncertain as fresh surveillance images showed a masked individual on Nancy Guthrie's porch on the night she vanished. Law enforcement activity has intensified across Arizona following the detention of a man, who was later released after questioning.
This week, FBI agents meticulously searched the terrain surrounding Guthrie's Tucson home, along with areas nearby, seeking further evidence. Agents are particularly interested in reviewing footage from January 31 and February 1 for any suspicious activities, as reported by neighboring residents.
The investigation has gained urgency; Guthrie, 84, was reportedly taken against her will, with authorities expressing concern for her health as she requires multiple medications. Investigators have linked blood samples found on her porch to her and are urging anyone with footage from the area to come forward.
Reports indicate that organizations like Ring have also been mobilized to alert users in the vicinity to submit video evidence from months prior to Guthrie's disappearance.
As the FBI continues its effort to gather further intelligence, Annie Guthrie, one of Nancy's daughters, revealed increased activity among investigators at her home as they collect potential evidence. Detectives were seen retrieving items, including gloves believed to be significant to the case.
The sheriff's office stated that it is deploying hundreds of detectives and agents for a thorough investigation, which is expanding daily. In a notable development, an armed individual was captured on surveillance near Nancy's residence, yet no links have been confirmed between him and her disappearance.
Anyone with relevant information is encouraged to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s tip line. Given the evolving nature of this case, both local and federal officers remain hopeful that crucial leads will come to light that could shine a path to Nancy Guthrie's whereabouts.
