Kevin Keegan, Former England Captain and Liverpool Legend, Dies at 75

The football world mourns the passing of former England captain and manager Kevin Keegan at the age of 75, following a battle with stage‑four cancer.

Keegan’s career saw him shine at clubs such as Scunthorpe United, Liverpool, Hamburg, Southampton and Newcastle, before moving into management where he guided Newcastle, Fulham, England and Manchester City.

In June, he publicly revealed that he was suffering from stage‑four cancer – the most advanced and metastatic stage – a diagnosis that ultimately took his life.

A family statement said he was surrounded by his wife and daughters in his final moments, and thanked the medical team for their support.

Newcastle United paid tribute, calling him “one of the most iconic, influential and deeply loved figures in our club's history.” The club emphasised that his impact would live on in the memories he created, the dreams he inspired, and the generations of supporters who fell in love with football because of him.

The football community continues to reflect on Keegan’s legacy – a double Ballon d'Or winner, devoted husband, father and grandfather whose influence remains enduring.
