The Fokker 50, which was en route to Puntland, experienced technical difficulties shortly after takeoff from Mogadishu and had to return. The pilot managed to crash-land the plane on the shoreline adjacent to the capital's international airport, successfully ensuring the safety of all 55 passengers and crew members aboard.
After the emergency landing, the aircraft failed to stop on the runway, overshooting the tarmac and coming to rest in shallow water. Fortunately, no serious injuries have been reported, and footage shared on social media showed passengers calmly leaving the aircraft and walking away from the wreckage.
