A video filmed by the US immigration agent who fatally shot a woman in Minneapolis on Wednesday has emerged, showing the moments before gunfire rang out.
The 47-second footage, obtained by Minnesota-based outlet Alpha News, shows Renee Nicole Good sitting behind the wheel of her car and speaking to the officer.
US Vice-President JD Vance shared the clip on social media, asserting that the agent acted in self-defense. However, local officials have emphasized that Good posed no immediate danger.
Good's wife has paid tribute to the 37-year-old, indicating the couple was present to support their neighbors when the shooting occurred. Her death has ignited protests nationwide.
According to the Trump administration, Good was obstructing the road, interfering with the work of the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.
The footage begins with the officer exiting his vehicle and documenting Good's car while he circumvents it, revealing a dog in the backseat. Good reportedly states: 'That's fine dude. I'm not mad at you.'
A second woman, believed to be Good's wife, is captured filming the exchange with her phone, stating to the ICE agent: 'We don’t change our plates every morning… just so you know, it will be the same plate when you come talk to us later.'
The officer then exhorts Good to exit the vehicle before she suddenly drives forward, prompting the agent to react. Gunfire ensues shortly after, with chaotic sequences followed by the camera panning skyward and the sound of bangs echoing in the background.
Following the incident, the FBI has initiated an investigation. Vice-President Vance has defended the agent, asserting that his life was endangered during the confrontation.
White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt echoed this sentiment, claiming there had been media unfairness against the ICE agent, who was justified in his actions. Becca Good, in her reflections of her wife, cherished her as a figure radiating kindness, aimed at teaching their son about compassion regardless of background.
