Anthropic Releases Claude Fable 5 to Public After Initial Concerns

After a brief period of private preview that raised alarms in security, finance, and government circles, Anthropic has made its Claude Fable 5 model publicly available. The new release builds on the earlier Mythos framework but includes additional safeguards and user limitations to mitigate possible misuse.

Higher‑risk concerns stem from the model’s ability to exploit or hack computer systems. According to the company, more than 10,000 critical security vulnerabilities were identified by the initial pilot groups that tested Mythos.

Anthropic says the public release will be rolled out to a “small group of cyberdefenders and infrastructure providers” first, and plans to expand access through a broader trusted‑access program. The company also acknowledges the risk of the model as it becomes widely available and stresses that safeguards are in place.

In addition to heightened security scrutiny, Anthropic’s recent lawsuit against the US Department of Defense for refusing government use of its AI tools highlights a growing tension over the deployment of such powerful technology. Despite the legal showdown, federal agencies are already testing Mythos.

With a private valuation approaching $1 trillion, Anthropic’s push to public release comes at a time when the company is expected to go public. Investors and industry observers will watch how the new model’s broader exposure influences its market trajectory.
