Amazon Cargo Plane Crashes on Arrival, Fire Engulfs Miami Airport

A Boeing 767-300 cargo jet from Amazon Prime Air was landing at Miami International Airport on Sunday after a flight out of San Juan, Puerto Rico when it failed to stop on the runway, overran, and crashed.

The aircraft slid across the airport runway and struck several vehicles parked on the adjacent road; a local fire-rescue team reported that several patients were treated on the scene before the plane burst into flame.

More than 60 firefighters from the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Battalion responded to the blaze, tackling the fully ignited fuselage and preventing a potential secondary fire that could have endangered nearby buildings.

In the immediate aftermath, all airport runways were closed and a full ground stop was declared across the airport as authorities secured the site and began a victim search operation.
