CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — A man charged in a fatal shooting at a New Hampshire country club where restaurant patrons acted quickly to stop the gunman and prevent further tragedy was set to appear in court Monday.

One person was killed and two others were injured by gunfire Saturday at Sky Meadow Country Club in Nashua.

Hunter Nadeau, 23, of Nashua, was apprehended in a nearby neighborhood and charged with one count of second-degree murder. He was scheduled to be arraigned Monday afternoon.

The shooting resulted in the death of Robert DeCesare Jr., 59, whose wife described witnessing the shooter enter the room, seemingly targeting a restaurant employee. In a heartfelt email, Charlene DeCesare recounted how her husband tried to protect them. My husband got caught in the fire trying to protect us, she said.

New Hampshire Attorney General John Formella praised the bravery of the patrons, emphasizing their selfless actions to intervene and stop the shooter, stating, They put aside care for their own safety.
Michael Homewood, a DJ at the wedding, explained how attendees worked together to tackle the shooter, recalling how one guest struck Nadeau with a chair. He probably saved a bunch of lives just doing that, Homewood conveyed to WCVB-TV.

Rob Parsons, the owner of the country club, expressed his sorrow over the shooting, calling DeCesare a hero in a statement, and extending support to the victims and their families. Authorities are still working to determine the motive behind the shooting, and law enforcement is investigating whether additional charges will be filed regarding the other victims.

The incident left another shooting victim hospitalized in critical but stable condition, while details regarding the other survivor remain unclear. The New Hampshire Governor has committed state resources to the Nashua police to facilitate the investigation.

The widow of DeCesare described herself as being unbelievably traumatized and focusing on caring for their children amid the chaos. Witness accounts painted a picture of sudden chaos, with multiple guests reporting screams and confusion immediately following the gunfire.

As investigations unfold, it remains unclear what motivated Nadeau, and police are looking into the background of both the shooter and the victims to determine any underlying connections.
