**The iconic sitcom "Malcolm in the Middle" is gearing up for a four-episode revival, introducing a new actor for Dewey while the original cast returns.**

The beloved American sitcom "Malcolm in the Middle" is set to make a comeback with a special four-episode revival on Disney+, timing its return with a fresh twist— a new actor will be stepping into the shoes of Malcolm's younger brother. Erik Per Sullivan, who portrayed Dewey from 2000 to 2006, will not reprise his role as he has moved on from acting. Stepping in for him is Caleb Ellsworth-Clark, known for his work in "Fargo," according to reports from Variety.

Frankie Muniz will return to embody the lead character Malcolm, joined by his on-screen parents, Lois and Hal, seamlessly brought to life once more by Jane Kaczmarek and Bryan Cranston respectively. Reflecting on Sullivan's departure, Kaczmarek revealed that he has chosen to focus on his studies rather than continue in the acting industry. He has reportedly been immersing himself in Victorian literature at a highly regarded university and is an avid admirer of Charles Dickens.

Sullivan, now 33, enjoyed a successful run on the show during his formative years, beginning at the age of seven and leaving at 14. After his stint on "Malcolm," he made a brief appearance in children's programming and had his final acting credit in the 2010 film "Twelve," since which he has mainly kept out of the public eye, missing numerous cast reunions.

Originating in 2000 and concluding in 2006, "Malcolm in the Middle" garnered acclaim, securing seven Emmy Awards during its tenure. The series shined a light on the challenges faced by a less-than-ordinary family through the lens of child prodigy Malcolm, whose witty asides painted a humorous glimpse into their chaotic lives. Dewey's character, portrayed as musically talented yet often the target of sibling pranks, developed a unique resilience that resonated with viewers.

Set in Vancouver, production for the revival is slated to begin soon. The plot for the first episode indicates that Malcolm will navigate family chaos alongside his teenage daughter, portrayed by Keeley Karsten, as Hal and Lois gear up for their 40th wedding anniversary party. Returning cast members include Christopher Masterson as Francis and Justin Berfield as Reese, with Kiana Madeira joining the ensemble as Malcolm's girlfriend. New faces such as Anthony Timpano, playing Jamie, and Vaughan Murrae, portraying Kelly, are also set to introduce a fresh dynamic to the show.

As anticipation builds, stars from the series have expressed excitement over revisiting their roles, with some humorously reflecting on the prospect of "yelling at that kid again," hinting at a blend of nostalgia and new comedic elements in the revival.
