**Hamilton’s Ferrari Mishap: Pre-Season Testing Turbulence**

Lewis Hamilton faces a bumpy start to pre-season as he crashes Ferrari in Spain.

Amid high expectations, Hamilton's transition to Ferrari hits a snag during critical testing days.

In a surprising twist during pre-season testing in Spain, Lewis Hamilton crashed the 2023 Ferrari, sparking concerns among fans and team analysts alike. The seven-time F1 champion was thankfully unharmed after losing control at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on Wednesday, but the incident marked a rocky second day of testing for Hamilton, who is simultaneously learning the dynamics of a new car while sharing the vehicle with teammate Charles Leclerc.

Ferrari has opted not to provide commentary on the crash, which has been brushed off as a common hurdle as Hamilton adjusts to the car's unique characteristics after over a decade spent with Mercedes. The team emphasized that this learning curve was expected, especially given the stringent testing limitations currently in place in Formula 1.

This year, F1 regulations restrict each driver to a maximum of 1,000km of testing with previous model cars, which has intensified the pressure on teams to ensure thorough preparation ahead of the season opener at the Australian Grand Prix from March 14-16. Hamilton had initially completed 30 laps at the Fiorano test track on January 22 before heading to Barcelona.

The team is remaining tight-lipped about the testing specifics, focusing instead on Hamilton familiarizing himself with Ferrari protocols and developing rapport with his race engineer, Riccardo Adami, and the technical crew. Looking ahead, Ferrari plans to unveil their 2025 car at Fiorano on February 19 and is gearing up to provide Hamilton with additional testing opportunities in a scheduled Pirelli tire test.

Next week, Ferrari is slated to conduct further testing at Barcelona, utilizing a 2025 model that aligns with new regulatory changes set for 2026, while McLaren is executing a parallel test in France as tire supplier Pirelli continues to refine its offerings for the upcoming season.
