Pope Francis: Prayer and Support from His Argentine Community
Argentinian expatriates rally in Rome to pray for the ailing Pontiff as his health remains a concern.
In front of the main altar at the Church of Santa Maria Addolorata, Mariarosa Cavañas, an Argentine nurse, kindled a candle for the Pope's recovery, surrounded by fellow expatriates. The Vatican recently reported that while the Pope’s condition had stabilized, he had experienced acute respiratory issues. Many expressed sadness and hope for his swift recovery, highlighting the close-knit bond felt towards him among the community, who feel a special connection to their native son, the Holy Father.
In addition to local prayers, millions globally are uniting in their spiritual support for Francis, but the Argentine congregation particularly emphasizes their unique relationship with him during these difficult times. They are finding solace within their traditions as they invoke the protection of the patron saint, Our Lady of Lujàn, for the Pontiff’s health and well-being.
