Speed Demon: Andrew Tate Hits 196km/h in Controversial Romanian Speed Limit Violation
Andrew Tate’s latest brush with the law raises questions amidst serious allegations.
Controversial social media personality Andrew Tate has found himself in hot water once again, as Romanian authorities have reported him speeding at an astonishing 196km/h (121mph) in a 50km/h zone. This incident took place nearly 184km from Romania's capital, Bucharest, in the village of Bujoreni, and has led to a fine of £310 ($420) alongside a driving license suspension for 120 days due to the severity of the violation, local police have confirmed.
Tate, a dual British-American national, has vehemently denied the claims, asserting that he was not speeding and intends to appeal the fines in court. “This radar must be calibrated incorrectly,” he maintained on social media, expressing confidence that he would ultimately be vindicated and suggesting that he would "enjoy full and normal driving privileges" despite the suspension.
Currently, Tate and his brother, Tristan, are embroiled in serious legal troubles, including allegations of rape and human trafficking in Romania, as well as facing charges in both the UK and the US. The brothers categorically deny any wrongdoing, while they continue to reside in Romania subject to court-imposed travel restrictions.
Tate, who has amassed a substantial online following, frequents social media to showcase his lavish lifestyle and extensive collection of high-end sports cars, such as Bugattis and Lamborghinis. His traffic violations are not new; he previously faced speeding citations in both Romania and Germany. Additionally, multiple high-value cars were seized by Romanian authorities earlier this year as part of ongoing legal proceedings against him.
Throughout his public persona, Tate has critiqued Western law enforcement practices, specifically British police, whom he accused of being unyielding against bribes. He has cited this cultural difference as a motivating factor for relocating his business operations to Romania in 2017. Tate has frequently spoken about an "elite club" that lives beyond the challenges faced by the common citizen, positioning himself comfortably within that narrative.
As Tate's path continues to intertwine with legal turmoil, he and his brother are expected to return to the UK to address 21 criminal charges, including serious allegations of rape and human trafficking, once their Romanian cases are resolved. At the same time, they are dealing with a civil lawsuit from four women claiming they were coerced into sex work, alongside a separate legal battle in the US from an ex-girlfriend accusing Andrew of sexual assault. Both brothers maintain their innocence across the board.
