Taiwanese boy band F4 surprised fans by performing at Mayday's concert, evoking nostalgia with their hit "Meteor Rain." The event celebrated the legacy of F4's early 2000s fame and left fans eagerly hoping for more performances in the future.

Taiwanese boy band F4 delighted fans with an unexpected reunion during Mayday's concert at the Taipei Arena on Saturday. As the quartet took the stage to perform their iconic ballad "Meteor Rain," a wave of nostalgia swept over the audience, composed of 40,000 energetic concertgoers who passionately sang along.

Originally the theme song for the beloved 2001 TV drama "Meteor Garden," which catapulted Jerry Yan, Vanness Wu, Vic Chou, and Ken Chu to stardom, "Meteor Rain" has remained a cornerstone of their legacy in the music industry. The series, adapted from the Japanese manga "Boys Over Flowers," quickly captured the hearts of viewers across Asia and established the "idol drama" genre that has influenced subsequent productions.

"Meteor Garden," which starred Barbie Hsu—who sadly passed away due to pneumonia earlier this year—tells the story of a working-class girl navigating the challenges posed by four privileged boys, collectively known as F4. The drama's widespread success paved the way for numerous adaptations, including Japan's "Hana Yori Dango," South Korea's "Boys Over Flowers," and China's "Meteor Garden."

Although F4 disbanded in 2009, they regrouped in 2013 for a brief performance at Jiangsu TV's Spring Festival Gala. Mayday's frontman Ashin expressed the significance of reuniting F4, noting the challenges the members faced to make the performance a reality. Widely revered as one of the leading bands in the Chinese-speaking world, Mayday has enjoyed immense success and is often compared to iconic groups like The Beatles.

During the concert, F4 also collaborated with Mayday on the track "The Song of Laughter and Forgetting." F4 member Jerry Yan expressed heartfelt gratitude, stating, "This is something I could not have imagined would happen again in my lifetime," while Vanness Wu shared his appreciation for the shared experience with fans.

As the four members, all now in their 40s, remain active in their respective careers, fans expressed their excitement over the reunion and called for F4 to hold their own concert. Social media was abuzz with messages of joy, with one user exclaiming, "OMG!! Thank you Mayday!! My childhood is alive." Taiwanese media outlets have even suggested a potential concert next year, marking 25 years since F4's debut, although this remains unverified by the group.
