Los Angeles police apprehend four teenagers linked to a string of high-profile burglaries, including actor Brad Pitt's residence.
The suspects, consisting of two 18-year-olds, a 17-year-old, and a 16-year-old, are reported gang members. Police Chief Jim McDonnell stated that stolen items were recovered during searches of their residences. While specific targets were not officially disclosed, it has been confirmed that other victims include celebrities such as Nicole Kidman, Keith Urban, and various athletes, with reported incidents occurring throughout the year.
The investigation sprung into action in late June when Pitt’s residence was notably invaded by a group of masked assailants who breached the property by jumping a perimeter fence and breaking a window. Although authorities have not officially recognized the property as Pitt's, its location aligns with that of a house he purchased earlier in 2023.
Pitt was absent during the burglary as he was busy promoting his latest film. McDonnell revealed that the suspects had established a pattern of targeting affluent individuals, tailoring their operations with sophisticated tactics such as planting surveillance cameras in strategic locations and employing wi-fi jammers to bypass security systems.
“As celebrities often share their schedules publicly and on social media, they inadvertently make themselves vulnerable to such crimes,” McDonnell explained. He urged caution in sharing personal travel information online, highlighting the need for vigilance among public figures and everyday citizens alike.
