The FBI has released information regarding the assailant, identified as Shamsud-Din Bahar Jabbar, who reportedly declared allegiance to the Islamic State group in a video prior to the attack. "We have confirmed that Jabbar acted independently," stated Christopher Raia of the FBI’s counterterrorism division during a press briefing, emphasizing that extensive investigations involving numerous interviews and digital forensics have found no evidence of accomplices.
